Not a fan of torch mode TVs or monitors since I always run them at less than 50% brightness; this thing gets bright. Internal light glare wasn’t an issue due to the finish. There’s also some YouTube 4K+ content but nothing I’d watch on a regular basis on a TV besides sampling/showcasing. I could also buy two for the price of one. I’ve seen it in showrooms from Best Buy to boutique AV stores and believe it’s worse than previous generation technologies. I try to watch YouTube using the internal application, it would zoom in to nearly 100% of the screen, cropping out the entirety of the picture. If you’re somebody that watches TV in a bright living room you’re going to have solutely love this thing. In summary, Too many glitches, forcing consumers to comply with Google even offline, downgraded features, lack of high frame-rate support, and a myriad of other problems makes the X950G a barely passable TV.
Then I found this: FORGING MOUNT FM9381-B TV Wall Mount Bracket, a perfect mate for my new Bravia 55″. It was half the weight and price, This won’t win any design awards, but it looks modern and gets the job done. The best part of the design is the cable management through the back legs.as they have one of the larger libraries of 4k Dolby Vision content – and this set has a “Netflix Calibrated” setting – but I’m not quite sure if it always looks better. There is a google assistant feature, which will illuminate the only LED on the remote. Still, I feel like at this price point, Sony should have included backlit buttons.I’m always watching this TV in a dark room so I like to control the brightness levels myself. The local dimming works very well.
I also need to report that we have been successful going right to a DVD or right to NETFLIX or right to MSNBC or HIST Channel without jumping through hoops. I need to mention for those enamored with the idea of having your own 4K TV that its money better spent on a cheaper simply HD 1080P set. and of course, whenever you start up the TV you are aggravated by slow boot, incessant sales pitches, reminders that such & such is not set up, I started using my xbox to run these apps, the TV hasn’t required a reboot, and the content loads immediately . I started using my xbox to run these apps, the TV hasn’t required a reboot, and the content loads immediately I have not been bothered with the soap opera effect on shows yet (default settings) so I will see how that works out over time, especially with more Bluray quality shows. So this is as much an android tv issue as it is a comcast/xfinity issue, and by that it means Sony should have thought first before getting involved. Xfinity refuses to let you register androidtv HBOGO, even though you have paid for it and it comes on your tv.
